It’s a pleasure to introduce myself to you. My name is Les Lee, or on the BC Birding forums I might be better known as ‘birdtrekkerbc‘. I live in West Vancouver, British Columbia, a very beautiful part of the world. I have been an avid birder for over 21 years. My passion for birds started when I hand fed my first Black-capped Chickadee as a teenager. For many years I was a backyard and feeder watching birder, not realizing how many more species were out there that I would never find at my feeders. That’s when my ventures began, hitting birding hotspots and remote areas to find birds. It has always been a hobby of mine for a long time and has now become my passion. This passion is shared with my partner Kate and is now being passed down to my daughter Dani. I have birded all over North America (including Hawaii), Mexico, Costa Rica and have three week bird trip scheduled for Panama (April 2012). I am an active participant in eBird, the BC Breeding Atlas, CBC Counts and Project Feederwatch. I’ve had the pleasure of leading point count surveys, conducting raptor watches, conducting bird walks and two years ago, received my bird banding certification. I’ve been very fortunate to band 100′s of birds including Eagles, Hawks and Owls. I enjoy meeting new birders from Vancouver, BC and throughout the world. Getting out with visiting birders, to find new lifers or just having a great time birding in BC with friends and fellow local birders.
I have started conducting bird tours throughout the Lower Mainland and am looking at scheduling a bird walk once a month at various locations throughout Vancouver when I’m available. I’m available for half days and full days. Please feel free to contact me at anytime with questions at birdtrekkerbc@gmail.com

Hi,
Those pictures of the Brewer’s Sparrow are great. I was just wondering what kind of camera you took those pictures with.
Dave
I didn’t take the pictures myself. I believe it was with a Nikon coolpix P100.
Spotted at least thirty ringed turtle-doves at Harbourside Park in North Vancouver at the mouth of Lynn Creek.
There are two seperate species, Oriental Turtle-Dove and Eurasian Collared-Dove. I believe what you’ve seen are Eurasian Collered-Doves as they seem to making a good presense on the North Shore. My friend Rob has seen a couple of them in his backyard in North Vancouver and there have been a few showing up at Maplewood lately. There is only one record for a Oriental Turtle-Dove in the Vancouver checklist area. Thanks for the report and a nice find in large numbers.
Les
